This section presents some shipwreck tales which took place on the North Coast of the St. Lawrence River. In this section, you will learn how shipwrecks became tragic and terrifying events in people's life.
We created a particular journal on shipwrecks. Each article will let you explore the terror of a shipwreck, the news look-ahead at the home port and, sometimes, the joys of a rescue. Sometimes, those on-board a sunken ship did not survive to tell their stories or the events they lived through was different from those of others who were present. This means that we do not know all the details or that there are many different versions of the same story.
As in all adventures, life on sea brings up champions to admire, or bolters to ignore. We all share theses tales which bring us over the River, and deep beneath it's surface.
