Anse aux Bouleaux Interpretation Centre

Activities for the family

From mid-june to mid-september, we invite you to come and live through great maritime tragedies that marked the Quebec history from 1600 to date. The multimedia presentation Mayday, with great emotions, will let you live through the wrecks of English Admirals Phips & Walker ships, near Baie-Trinité and at Pointe-aux-Anglais, in 1690 & 1711, the terrible odyssey of the Renommée sailors, wrecked on Anticosti Island, in November 1735, as well as many other shipwrecks and tragedies.

After the presentation, follow the trail along the littoral starting from La Pointe à Poulin, west of the village, and visit the sites of memorable shipwrecks. Four interpretation stations accomodated for resting and wilderness camping, part of the Blue Road, alongside magnificient bays with visualizing names recall the maritime dramas that took place along our coasts. Two of those rest areas, Anse aux bouleaux & Anse de sable, can be accessed by car. Come discover the Anse aux Bouleaux station, site of the Elizabeth and Mary shipwreck, in 1690, come and feel the rock engraved by sailors of the Edith Emily, which wrecked at l’Anse Steamship, in 1872, come explore l’Anse de Sable & l’Anse Hunter, which will let you make other fascinating discoveries!
