It is said there is about one hundred wrecks along the coast...

This is most probably a conservative estimate since we often hear about tragic wrecks of large ships, but rarely do we hear about small ships that wrecked due to reefs and waves. The objective of this relatively short list of ships is to give you an idea of the variety and the scope of shipwrecks offshore Baie-Trinité.

Some are tugboats or wooden barges, while others are general cargo ships. There are Canadian and Foreign ships, warships and passenger/vehicle ferries. St. Lawrence River makes no difference of them. In many cases, the only information available is the name of the ship and the site where she wrecked. Sometimes, newpaper articles or insurance registers will reveal additional details, other times, none.
